2019 Erasmus+ K103

The results of our project

The mobility activities planned were consistent with the commitments we had made. However, the Covid crisis considerably reduced the number of mobilities initially planned.

We organized the mobilities in a way that ensured maximum security and limited risk-taking as specified in our institutional strategy on security and prevention in the context of exchanges. All mobilities were organized in full observance of the health conditions imposed by the Belgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the host country and the host institution. Several students preferred to cancel or postpone their project to a later date.

In order to increase the number of participants in a mobility project and to meet the diverse expectations of students and staff who either seek a complete change of scenery or, alternatively, prefer to keep their familiar surroundings , Henallux has always offered a wide choice of host institutions, thus providing a wide variety of educational, linguistic, cultural, environmental and social backgrounds.

We have also strengthened our actions to stimulate the participation of staff members in international experiences and mobilities. We have strengthened our communication plan, clarified and improved the system for granting recognition to their mobility.

Thanks to the Erasmus + programme, Henallux brings to the labour market young professionals who are able to cooperate in teams with people from different backgrounds and cultures, to plan tasks in complex situations and to adapt to any new situation. At the end of their mobility,these students have developed analytical skills. They are more aware of their strengths and weaknesses.

Staff members who have benefited from a mobility experience have increased job satisfaction, acquired social, linguistic and cultural skills that are useful in their professional field and for their professional development. They have learned from good practices observed abroad. They strengthened their collaboration with partners and consolidated their professional network by creating new contacts. The majority of them established cooperation with the relevant civil society actors and improved their skills in the use of information and communication technologies.

We have identified a set of indicators to assess the extent to which the Erasmus programme adds value to the student's programme, is inclusive, develops the skills of staff members, enables Henallux to evolve internationally, strengthens the links between Henallux and the local and regional level, and promotes the employability of students. Monitoring these indicators over the longer term will help confirm these assumptions.

Through the Erasmus project we have been cooperating with organizations at local, regional, national, European and international level. We have strengthened our collaboration with other higher education institutions. We have ensured our visibility on the international scene and in international networks and benefited from project opportunities with our partners.

In addition to that, the Covid crisis acted as a catalyst to innovate and improve the functioning, communication and agility of the international relations department. This year 2020 has given us the opportunity to :

  • organize several virtual and hybrid international weeks and activities in our departments;
  • translate into English and put online the course catalogue and the videos presenting our course programmes;
  • update the international pages of the website ;
  • translate into French and English website pages with information about the new Erasmus + 21-27 programme ;
  • organize a virtual game "Play and discover" for staff members to promote their participation in international experiences and mobilities and to disseminate the principles of the new Erasmus programme ;
  • prepare the "Erasmus days" in October 21 ;
  • share best practices in order to better welcome incoming students;
  • standardize and formalize the procedure for the recognition of credits obtained abroad;
  • implement the strategic plan of the University College within the international relations department ;
  • enter the "Erasmus Without Paper" process by acquiring a new management tool for all our mobility activities (mobility online).
